The Art legacy of Lord Beaverbrook

Lord Beaverbrook’s grandsons and the good folk of the Canadian city of Fredericton, New Brunswick are in dispute over his paintings . The dispute over the ownership of paintings worth about £50m is detailed in a book, Beaverbrook: A Shattered Legacy, by journalist Jacques Poitras. It’s a riveting, and somewhat sad, tale of a community’s evolution from deference to defiance as it attempts to hold on to the old rogue’s magnificent legacy. “His actions left this terrible mess… that has ended up destroying the relationship between his family and the gallery,” says Poitras.
